Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Donates $20,000 To Women's Center of San Joaquin County
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital donated $20,000 to the Women's Center of San Joaquin County in support of the Tracy Safe House, a shelter for battered and abused victims residing in South County.
The donation will be used to support re-modeling, furnishings, equipment and help with first year operational costs. "We continue to be grateful (to Sutter Tracy) for their generosity and commitment to helping us end the cycle of violence and abuse," said Joelle Gomez Executive Director of the Women's Center.
In the 26-year history of the Women's Center they have been the sole certified provider for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the county. They provide comprehensive services to over 18,000 victims annually. There services include 24-hours crises lines, shelters, hospital response services, individual and group counseling, court accompaniment, and prevention. Community education programs reach over 10,000 children, youth, adults, parents, and educators throughout the community in efforts to prevent victimization and the reoccurrence of abuse.
The center is driven by its mission to "Provide a wide range of supportive, educational and crisis intervention services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, enabling them to regain control of their lives," said Gomez.
