6th Annual Children's Health & Safety Fair to offer more activities - Saturday, May 8, 2004
April 2004
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital's 6th Annual Children's Health & Safety Fair is set for Saturday, May 8th, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. on the hospital grounds. Over 60 booths, exhibits and activities will be offered on children's health, prevention and child-related resources. Numerous health and fitness related activities also provide kids with a valuable hands-on approach to learning about health and prevention. New educational opportunities this year include child abduction, low-income health insurance, dog bites and skin cancer prevention. With the high rate of accidental deaths due to gun shot wounds, a gun safety program will be presented and free gun locks will be available. An event attendee favorite, the bike rodeo, will teach kids how to maintain and ride their bikes safely. Kids are encouraged to bring their bikes to the fair. Health screenings, a fitness obstacle course, food, entertainment and our famous Teddy Bear Check-up Clinic will also be available at this growing fair.
Local health care professionals will be available to answer questions and distribute information about child and adolescent health and safety topics including healthy eating, injury prevention, and immunizations. The Hospital and Foundation are promoting Safe & Smart cycling by distributing informational flyers on bike safety and offering free bike helmet drawings! The event is expected to attract over 6,000 people this year. For more information on the event, to participate, offer assistance or volunteer, please call 209-832-6010.
